Cogs in the Machine

Cogs in the Machine is Richard Johnston's third original comic series, debuting in fall of 1997.

A 6-page preview of Cogs was published in X-Flies Bug Hunt #4 in June of 1997. We'll be posting some of those pages after the book has had a chance to hit the comic shops.

The series is still somewhat of a work in progress. As of this writing in July, Richard has just about finished the first issue. Artist Mark Buckingham is contributing the cover for issue #1, and we are planning to present the book to other publishers at San Diego. "While we still beleive in self-publishing, we'd certainly welcome the chance to get our books out to a larger audience," says editor and co-publisher Mike Meyer.

Rich's Web page has a bit more information about the series concept, but in short, it's a slice-of-life type of story centering on a group of young Londoners. They're all in their twenties, not an exceptional bunch, but after their meeting at a New Year's Eve party, their interactions and lives seem to be having an effect on the universe itself. "Think astrology, only in reverse, " says Richard.

We're still in the early stages of putting the book together. At present, we haven't yet decided on the overall design of the book, the logo, or the overall look and feel. We'll keep you posted as this goes along -- we'll have some prelim logos and artwork on this page soon.
